 Never a Dull Moment [Open]
« Thread Started on Jul 1, 2008, 11:58am »

Ziva crept down the large hallway she'd unceremoniously dropped into, gun in hand and feet making no noise on the carpet. She had no idea where she was; this definitely wasn't the house she and Tony had arrived at. She had a feeling she was no longer in Virginia, either. The feeling of uncertainty didn't sit well with her, and the accompanying pain in her hip from landing didn't help much. One minute she'd been creeping through the house for evidence with Tony, the next, a floorboard had given out and she fell, winding up in this place, wherever this was.

Halfway down the hall, she relaxed her arms from in front of her, letting her hands fall to her sides. it was useless, anyway. It didn't even sound like there was anyone in the house. Sinking to the floor with a sigh, she pulled her knees to her chest and thought a moment, trying to figure out what on earth could have happened. It wasn't long before she gave up on that, though, only gaining a headache from it and not coming up with any possible solutions. Hearing movement at the end of the hallway coming in her direction, she snapped to attention, gaze locked at the end of the hall while one hand crept to the gun at her side.

Well, if he was stranded in this strange and garish place, Arthur reasoned, then at least he should gather an idea of how it was laid out. He tentatively walked through the spacious hallway, treading cautiously as if he were to be swallowed into the floor at any wrong movement. Turning the corner, he kept on his way, making sure to keep a keen eye out. He eventually neared a figure on the floor - a woman.

Now, Arthur wasn't sure he'd ever seen a woman in trousers - or, really, dressed like she was at all - but she was at least more modest than the other woman he'd come across so far. He was rather more fixated on the handgun she looked ready to draw. Where would she have possibly gotten such a weapon? Nearing her timidly, he felt the call to do his pastoral duty, and so asked the strange woman, "Art thou in need of assistance?"

Ziva blinked as the man approaching her spoke, first at his out-of-place appearance, and then again at the way he spoke. As if she didn't have enough trouble with the English language already... Taking a moment to process what he said, she replied, "No, thank you. I am alright. Just wondering how I got here, is all." That seemed safe enough for the time being. Now to asses who it was that was speaking to her.

He seemed harmless enough, but one never know. One of the many things Mossad taught her was to never underestimate a person based on appearances. She was living proof of that. Or, rather, her victims were. Never underestimate a pretty face... Bringing herself back to the situation at hand, she studied the man carefully. He seemed to have walked out of another time period all together. 1400s, maybe? Something like that. And he was someone of importance. Not royalty, but maybe a town leader or something. Very odd indeed.

Arthur was growing increasingly uncomfortable with the setting, or rather with the unfamiliarity of it, and so stooped to his knees and muttered a soft prayer. "Almighty Father, reveal to me Thy divine will; if this be a test of faith or even a punishment, allow me to know as much as Thou wilt have me to, and if Thou might feel pity on this humbled one, then grant me Thy strength to navigate this strange place, as Thou poured out Thy mercy on the exiled Israelites and guided them to the Promised Land. Amen."

Raising his head to face the woman once again, he gave her an empathetic look and nodded solemnly. "Alas, I cannot answer thee, for I know not how I came to be in this place, or even where 'this place' is." He felt genuinely sorry that he couldn't help her, though relieved that he wasn't the only lost soul here. His eyes drifted once again to the gun by her side, and he still couldn't fathom why she would need it, or even possess one at all - and he'd certainly never even seen a gun like that before, besides, so it doubtless was new. Not taking his eyes off the strange weapon, he couldn't refrain from asking in utter bewilderment, "For what occupation dost thou require artillery?"

Ziva looked away respectfully as he knelt down and prayed, although she couldn't help but think it was an odd time for it. Oh well. Who was she to question another man's actions? It wasn't hurting her, so she didn't bother with it. Instead she stretched her legs out in front of her and let her head fall back against the wall, looking up at the ceiling. This was such an odd place ... It truely confused her. (Of course, it didn't take much here in a America to throw her off, not that she'd admit to it, of course.)

She shrugged at his reply, having guessed he didn't know much about where they were either. "It is alright," she replied. "I will figure it out soon enough. I just do not like being here alone. Well, not really alone, as, obviously, there are other people her, but no one I know," she added in clarification. At his question, she looked down and noticed her hand was still trained on her gun. Quickly letting it fall to the side, she sat up straight and turned to face the man, replying, "I was sent to America by Mossad to work alongside NCIS. I am a federal agent."
