Pegasus was taking a break from his extensive research, exploring the grounds more throughly. He'd heard of another that had arrived recently that matched Kaiba's description but he daren't believe it to be true. Afterall why would Kaiba-boy be here?
He slowed his pace as he arrived to a less familar area, looking around, sighing as he heard the soft bird song, the peace pretty much unbroken. In the distance he could hear the slight play of water.
As was usual for him now, due to them being his only link to the familar world he carried his cards on him. It was almost getting to the point he couldn't cope if even just one of them was missing.

Seto Kaiba was irritated. He'd been in this stupid place for a whole day now, and he'd searched everywhere. There was no possible way out. The gardens seemed to stretch for miles. There was no lever, no button saying 'push here to go back home'. He was beginning to wonder whether this was another of Pegasus' sick jokes. He wouldn't put it past the man. And he'd been in the Shadow Realm before he came here, where, who'd have guessed it, Pegasus put him.
More than that though, was the feeling of failure. He'd failed at beating that rat Yugi Mutou fair and square, and he'd tasted cold, bitter defeat from Pegasus. It was enough to make a man give up duelling. He couldn't believe it here. Nobody knew him. Nobody had heard of Duel Monsters. Nobody had heard of KaibaCorp, for crying out loud! It was madness. "Stupid Pegasus...I'll find him...and when I do..." He growled to himself. He heard footsteps from somewhere, and assumed that it was another of the crazy residents.
Imagine his surprise when he looked up to meet Maximillion Pegasus himself. He found a deep anger surging up from inside himself, and glared with stony blue eyes. "You..." He snarled.

Pegasus frowned, blinking slightly as his thoughts were jarred sharply by a familar voice he'd not at all been expecting to hear. Of course he'd been picking up the stray thoughts for sometime subconciously.
"Kaiba-boy? Is that really you?" Pegasus had to ask, stupid question really but.... right now the guy was having troubles not believing his mind hadn't just imagined him up. Anubis knew, he'd been longing for some type of company.
Someone he knew. Someone besides his cards to prove he wasn't being insane. Talking of them he reached into the pocket he was carrying them in, placed neatly in a velvet bag, just to reassure himself he wasn't imaging them up.
In short the guy was struggling to cope. Yeh so industrial illusions wasn't as big as kaibacorps was admittedly, he'd wanted to take it over afterall, but still. To not know of duel monsters... the beloved game he'd created. Even worst to not know anything about even the rumours of the millenium items. It was horrifying.
Where was he anyway? He'd been here some time, and he'd been able to find no means of escape. "Tell me your not just some imagination of my mind in its desperation to see a familar face Kaiba-boy," he said quietly more to himself, hoping Kaiba didn't hear that

"I knew you'd be here." Kaiba said to Pegasus, his voice sullen and quiet. He was trying to force down his anger, knowing that Mokuba, his little brother, didn't like it when he got angry. He cried sometimes. He used to cry back when Seto and Gozuka, their adoptive father, used to argue. And Kaiba and Gozuka argued a lot. Now though, faced with Pegasus, he refused to look the older man in the eye. Normal or millenium. How the Hell did he get that back anyway?
"This is another one of your sick, pathetic mind games, isn't it. You think you're so funny, with your mind tricks and illusions and I-don't-know-what." Kaiba was getting more volatile now. He could feel his face heating up, hear his own voice becoming scratchy and hoarse from anger. Anger and fear. Fear of the unknown.
"Well, you're wrong, Pegasus. This isn't even VAGUELY funny. What did you do with Mokuba?!" He spat. It had sunk in. He didn't know where Mokuba was. But his brother wasn't with him, and that was wrong and bad. He could practically feel the empty space beside him where his brother should stand like a faithful hound, fighting their corner with as much ferocity as Seto himself.

"Kaiba...this is not my doing... this is not even under my control....I'm just as trapped here as you are," Pegasus said softly, and it hurt saying that. Because his lack of control scared him. "I don't know where Mokuba is, I don't even know where 'here' is. Do you think I'd let myself get trapped in my own illusion and my own mind game? Your...your the first person I've seen that I know," Pegasus admitted. "Unless of course I'm totally insane and I'm imagining this whole conversastion and talking to myself and imagining your responses in sheer desperation," he added on more to himself the anything. For a split second in his normal eye there would show the whole mass of feelings Pegasus was feeling, fustration, confusion, pain, and to some point fear, fear of that which he couldn't control and which was unknown even to him.

Kaiba still stared at the ground like a moody teenager. He was an adult now - eighteen and with a lot more responsibility than others his age - and yet he still felt intimidated by Pegasus. He felt so stupid. At least the instinct to punch the man had faded now, especially with his last words. He felt almost pitying for the man. He had to find Mokuba though. His brother. With the lions mane of black hair which Seto loved to tousle. The only one who truly understood his feelings and actions.
"Do you know where we are then?" He asked quietly, more sedately. If this wasn't Pegasus' mind games, then he didn't know what it was. That scared him even more. He had been kind of banking on the fact that he was in Pegasus' head or a different Realm. Now that he knew he wasn't...he was beginning to wonder. Even if it was Pegasus' fault that he was in this stupid place anyway. If Pegasus hadn't taken Mokuba, Kaiba wouldn't have chased after him, duelled him and got stuck in the Shadow Realm.
He had given himself a headache. "I keep seeing all these people...weird ones...weirder than you even." Kaiba said softly. He fingered the card pendant at his neck. On the colour side was his favourite card. Ultimate Blue Eyes White Dragon. He closed his eyes and put his fingers to his temples. "I haven't talked to any of them yet."

"None, I'm sorry," Pegasus said with a sigh. "Those who i have encountered know nothing either," pegasus added on. "I know they're not lieing to me," he sighed, knowing kaiba would know why. Pegasus couldn't help but to pull out his cards, starting to run through his deck for the 50000th time now. He was counting the cards, making sure he'd not lost a single one.
There was a moment of panic as he counted one less then there should be, and almost frantically he recounted, his lips moving as he did so, he gave a quiet groan. Where was it. There should be 40 cards here, where was it. Which card was missing? How could he have mislaid it.
Perhaps though they were fading out. Perhaps Kaiba-boy was just a figment of his imagination, and perhaps his cards had been too. Perhaps he wasn't even real himself. Perhaps it was him who was fading out. He just couldn't handle it, the normally composed Pegasus couldn't handle the pressure. Where was that missing card. It had to be somewhere. It had to be. How could he have lost it?!
Due to his panic stricken mind he couldn't even work out which one it was. He wasn't thinking clearly right now.

Kaiba stretched his arms above his head, hearing them crack satisfyingly as he did. His blue eyes darted across the lawns, the gardens, everywhere, checking that nobody was here, watching him. How in living HELL was KaibaCorp going to survive without him? Surely he wasn't dead. Not dead. Anything but dead. Comatose. Unconscious. Anything but dead.
"We need to think straight. Think of a way out of here. There's always a way." Kaiba said, half to himself. It wasn't long before he realised that Pegasus was having a sort of panic attack. He had his cards out - Kaiba slid a hand into his inner pocket to check his when he noticed - and seemed to be becoming rather twitchy. Kaiba raised an eyebrow in disbelief.
"Are you okay, Pegasus?" He asked. He had to remind himself that he needed Pegasus' help. If Pegasus had gone round the bend then he was pretty much out of luck. That's what he had to tell himself. He wasn't concerned or anything about Pegasus' wellbeing or whatever. He needed another familiar mind to work with. That was all.

"One of my cards...its not there....." Pegasus whispered, he'd be unable to settle till he found it. Hell they'd been the only reason he'd been able to function. He looked at Kaiba "who am I?" he asked. The question he'd constantly been able to avoid. As long as he'd had his card deck intact he'd been able to keep a sense of his identity. Now that he'd lost one all of that had gone, and Kaiba was the only familar face he could ask. Because he didn't damn know any more. The lack of power and control was scaring him, everything was too unknown. The guy who'd battled a shadow game to gain his millenium eye, who'd lost his wife just after they'd married, who'd lost to a 15 year old kid at the game he'd created.....and he'd finally lost control now. His normal eye showed the sheer range of emotions the confusion the fear, and the fact that now this.... it was too much for him

Kaiba instantly softened a little. The man was deranged. He'd lost a card - one card! - and he'd had a panic attack from it. Poor guy. However, Kaiba could relate. His left hand clutched at the pendant on his neck, and he glanced at the card to make sure it was still there. If it had gone then HE'D be on the floor crying.
This place was so messed up and crazy. He wouldn't be surprised if it was all one big dream. He would wake up soon. Wake up and be in KaibaCorp, having imagined Duellist Kingdom, Mokubas abduction, everything.
"You're...Pegasus. Maximillion Pegasus. Creator of Duellist Kingdom. President of Industrial Illusions. The first guy ever to make a Duel Monster card." Kaiba said softly, trying to reassure Pegasus that everything was okay. This was so weird. Never in a month of Mondays had Kaiba ever pictured himself reassuring his former enemy. Not like this. It was like they had been stripped of all their dignity, doomed to work together.

"How did I lose it Kaiba? How?" it possibly showed his state of mind that he wasn't adding 'boy' onto the end of the name. He was clutching his remaining cards desperately. They'd come to mean more to him here then life itself.
Right now he knew Kaiba was the only person most like him. The only person who might be able to understand how he was feeling. He'd been here three days now and already. Kaiba was his only link left besides his cards, and he'd lost one of them.

Seto shrugged, looking at Pegasus' cards in his hand. Thirty nine, he'd said. So that meant he had fourty. He wondered if it was the Toon World deck which Pegasus had beat him with. In his inside pocket, he clutched his own cards protectively. He wouldn't lose any of them. They were his friends. His travel-buddies. They'd been everywhere with him. All over the world.
Well not this world. The other world. The real world. "Maybe you miscounted. Maybe you just dropped it. It can't be far." Kaiba muttered, silently counting his own cards. Just as their should be. Fourty. The exact same amount as Pegasus should have. Well, thirty nine, but the Blue Eyes Ultimate was around his neck in its usual place.

A slight frown passed Pegasus' face as he slowly recounted, checking each card in turn as he did so. Toon world... the one card he could have done without losing was the lost card. He knew he had to find it. Without Toon World.... he would lose any and every duel. Though of course if anyone was paying any attention it wasn't too far away.
As he'd removed his cards from where he was keeping them on his person one had dropped to the floor and was laying a short distance away on the grass, totally unharmed. Pegasus wasn't really thinking that straight though right now.
